Fritz Haber


(1868-1934) Fritz Haber was a German chemist. In 1918 he was awarded the Nobel prize in Chemistry for the invention of a process for making ammonia cheaply by combining nitrogen and hydrogen.


Otto Hahn


(1879-1968) Otto Hahn, was a German physical chemist. In 1914 he was awarded the Nobel prize in Chemistry for his discovery of fission of uranium atoms.


Edmund Halley


(1656-1742) Edmund Halley was an English astronomer and mathematician. He was renowned for his study of comets. In 1583, he calculated the orbit of the comet now named after him ( Halley's Comet), and correctly predicted its return in following years.


Frans Hals


(c.1581-1666) Frans Hals was a Dutch painter. He is especially famous for his portraits. His most famous painting is 'The Laughing Cavalier'.


Alexander Hamilton


(1757-1804) Alexander Hamilton was an American statesman. He founded the Federalist party in 1787 and, as first secretary of the Treasury (1789-1795), founded the US federal bank. He was killed in a duel with vice-president Aaron Burr.


George Frederick Handel


(1685-1759) George Frederick Handel was a German-born composer. He wrote 41 operas and 27 oratorios. His best known work is the oratorio 'The Messiah'.


Thomas Hardy


(1840-1928) Thomas Hardy was an English novelist, short-story writer and poet. His novels include 'Far from the Madding Crowd', 'The Return of the Native' and 'Tess of the D'Urbervilles'.


Jean Harlow


(1911-1937) Jean Harlow (real name Harlean Carpentier) was an American movie actress. She was known as the "Platinum Blonde" and the "Blonde Bombshell". "Hold Your Man" and "Red Dust" were just two of the many movies she appeared in.


Joel Chandler Harris


(1848-1908) Joel Chandler Harris was an American author. He wrote the Uncle Remus stories.


George Harrison


(1943-2001) George Harrison was an English singer-songwriter. He played lead guitar for the Beatles from 1962 to 1970 and afterwards had a number of solo hits including 'My Sweet Lord'.
